The pent-up shortfalls finally forced some accountability. The district’s cost cutting, combined with tens of millions of dollars in federal COVID-19 relief, stabilized the short-term budget. This school is built on giving us a better future and now looking back, I'm grateful for all that's been done all of us students. Here, because of its tight and close community, you make friends easily and by now, I have dozens of close friends. For the past three years, all of my teachers loved their and cared for each and everyone in their classroom. Going from a 2000+ student size school at Hillsborough where you can seep into a crowd and not be found, this small 500+ student size school is perfect for having interactions and being known by name by your teachers and these teachers have been wonderful. Now, three years later I look back and greatly appreciate what this school and its faculty have done for me. After leaving Hillsborough High School in the summer of 2020 after completing my freshmen year, I was fortunate to be admitted to Brooks DeBartolo for my sophomore year. Senior: Being at Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School was truly a blessing to receive after the Covid-19 pandemic. Overall, something that I would like to see change is the depth of advising as I often feel like some of the counselors and teachers don't really put in the work to see their students succeed. Although I have had some trials because of this, I have been presented with many opportunities to share my faith with those that know nothing about it. A downside is that as a Christian, I rarely meet others that have the same faith as me but instead have encounters with those who oppose my faith. Adding to this the chorus program that I am involved in often brings me great experience that make me feel like I have a school family. One of my best experiences is performing for a concert called Night of Jazz where I got to sing with a live band filled with people I had worked with the whole school year. It is a conservatory-like environment that builds teamwork and personal skills. Junior: Being apart of the magnet program is a unique experience that no other school in our county has. Patel high school high has amazing school spirit and amazing academics. Currently in my junior year, I’ve never seen so many high school students wanting to be involved in their school in a Motivational Way. Then became one of the greatest schools in Hillsborough County, and soon to be Florida. That’s when the school did a 360 turnaround. Though, the end of my sophomore year was when administration decided, they wanted to start incorporating, at least incorporating more and emphasizing clubs and extracurriculars. My sophomore year wasn’t that great either it wasn’t as if the school wanted to be an actual high school experience rather just learn the information and go home. It was only the second year of the school opening so the environment was still iffy and honestly I didn’t like it. My freshman year was still during Covid times so I was E-learner the first semester but then I came in the second semester. Junior: I have attended Patel High School all three years of my high school years. Otherwise, my 4 years spent at Riverview High School were very smooth and I was very grateful for the high school experience I received!. My only wish during my time in high school was that there was more information on college preparation, including financial literacy, options for out-of-state universities, and understanding the decisions surrounding majors/minors. The teachers, staff, and administration were friendly, and the campus was always clean and felt very safe. Additionally, RVHS was very diverse and the campus culture was very laidback, in the sense that among the students, there was very little drama or clique behavior. The teachers I had often made themselves available for before- and after-school tutoring sessions which was a huge help for the more intense classes. There were a multitude of Advanced Placement classes available for students to take, which kept increasing as the years went by. Alum: RVHS greatly focused on student academics and achievement.
